The “Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve”
became the first ecotourism certified destination in Galicia
through the Ecotourism Club in Spain in January 2020.
The Ecotourism Club is a pioneering initiative that offers ecotourism experiences in protected natural areas, guaranteeing travellers their contribution to local development and the conservation of the biodiversity of the visited areas and the services enjoyed.
The Ecotourism Club in Spain is managed by the Association of Ecotourism in Spain (AES) and has the following objectives: on the one hand, to promote those destinations, companies and experiences of authentic ecotourism and also to support their commercialization at national and international level; and on the other hand, to provide technical support, accompaniment and training to the entities adhered to the club.
Catering companies affiliated to the Biosphere Reserve Quality Mark will have direct access to opt for membership of the Ecotourism Club in Spain, after the integration of the Reserve as a state ecotourism destination, that will in turn allow them to apply for the “Spanish Biosphere Reserves” Quality Mark.
The Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve requested its membership to the Ecotourism Club in Spain in 2019. The membership of the Reserve to the State Ecotourism Club was certified in January 2020, in the FITUR framework.
